Social Justice

These interviews speak to social justice issues that caused unrest and reflection throughout the country during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic. The United States saw a rise in anti-Asian racism and hate incidents. The upsurge of the Black Lives Matter movement after the murders of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd in the Spring of 2020 spurred protests and conversations on police brutality and racism. Job loss and high unemployment rates highlighted systemic issues disproportionately affecting low-income and marginalized communities. Healthcare disparities, especially during a time when medical treatment was critical, also became apparent.
