Biographical Text

Craig was the youngest son of Edward Biddle and Emilie Drexel Biddle. In 1901 he married Laura Whelen, with whom he had three children, Craig Jr., George Drexel Biddle, and Laura May Biddle. They traveled Europe extensively until the start of World War I, this is also when Craig started to play tennis. He and Laura separated in 1917.

He married his second wife, Josephine Peet Wilmerding, in 1926 and then divorced her in 1945. His third wife, Laura Savard, was also his nurse. He made it to the finals of the U.S. National Championships (Now U.S. Open) in the mixed doubles category with Molla Bjurstedt Mallory in 1920 however, they lost. He reached the quarterfinals in the singles category in 1917, 1918 and 1921. In September 1913, Biddle reached the final of the Montreux Autumn Meeting in Switzerland but was defeated. In March 1920 he was runner-up at the Florida Tennis Championships.
