Biographical Text
A.J. Drexel Paul was a grandchild of Anthony J. Drexel. He married Isabel Biddle with whom he had four children. Paul graduated from Harvard University in 1906. He played Polo with the Devon Polo Club and was nationally known. Paul was also a member of the Gulph Mills Club and now has a competition named after him.
Paul served on the Drexel Institute’s Board of Trustees beginning in 1908. He was elected president in 1933 and served on the Board until 1958. Drexel University has awarded the A.J. Drexel Paul Award since 1961, in his honor.
